(Can't decide proper spot to post.)

I have an October 2025 week on hold, planning to host my own 75th Birthday,
(With a rotation of friends and family.)
Anyone know anything about location of unit if booked through GPX?
How about Legoland?
Oldest grandson will be 14. Youngest, great-grand, will be 3.
Can they both be entertained there? (I've never been.)

I have never been to Legoland so hopefully someone who has can better answer. But in conferring with Google it seems the 14 year old may be too old to enjoy it and the younger one may not be tall enough for some of the attractions. Here is what I found:

Legoland says that the park is aimed at kids 2 to 12 but I'd probably make that 4 to 10 as the sweet spot. Younger than that and you have to deal with height restrictions and older than that will get you questions like “Why didn't we go to Disneyland?” And no, Legoland isn't like Disneyland.

We own at GPP. Legoland is very convenient from GPP. Head out the main entrance, take a right at the street and there is an entrance on the left side of the street that takes you into the parking lot. We’ve done Legoland about ten times since 2012. Last year, I did Legoland with my then 14 year old son. My 18 year old son didn’t want to go. He had fun, mainly the Technic roller coaster. That said, might be the last time until grand kids. Costco nearby usually has two day tickets for about the same price as one day.

My daughter lives in Carlsbad. She has a 7 year old and a 9 year old and an annual membership to Legoland. They love it. I haven't been. Your grands may not be the ideal age for it, but I bet all would enjoy it. We're visiting in a few weeks, I'll get more details.

Agree with 10 yo being about the max age for the sweet spot. But if the 14yo goes in with the right understanding and attitude, he can absolutely enjoy the day.

Recently returned from a trip to Oceanside (visiting Carlsbad family).

We really enjoyed Legoland with the 7 and 9 year old grandkids. They have an annual membership and frequently go. Agree with @Luanne, 10 or so is probably a better max age. That said, a kid into their teens could surely enjoy it (with the right attitude). I would say under 10 and the parents / grandparents would enjoy the most. We had a bad ticket experience, maybe being local you can find better deals. We had checked things out, and the desk at Oceanside had a decent deal (about $65 a ticket), but there was a computer glitch and we ended up asking for a refund (as our tickets were NOT for Legoland even though that was what we paid for). We ended up paying $90 each at the gate (because people were waiting for us and we just wanted to get there and get in). They have a fun detective twist - find Mr. Gold. Ask any employee if they have seen Mr. Gold and if they have they give you a special pin. Also look for a small bubble wrapped manilla envelope and it will have prizes? That's the scoop, we did not find Mr. Gold or the envelope, but especially the 9 year old enjoyed this 'game'. And still probably 14 too old for this. There is a waterpark I don't know anything about and an aquarium (we did not attend).

Some other really fun things we like to do in the area. Check the tides. I am now a very novice 'tidalpooler'. There were King's tide when we were there and we hit Swamis beach at low tide. Just amazing what you might find. Starfishes, octopus, etc. Lot's of people but also they were caring and careful, I don't think anyone took anything (any sea creatures). Just the thrill of finding and observing these sea creatures in their own habitat.

Looks like you don't need it to be King's Tide (although I'm sure it was helpful):

We picked Swamis Beach as we also visited the meditation garden in Encitas. A very beautiful and peaceful place (but likely not of interest to a 14 year old)?

We also enjoyed the seals in La Jolla (a must do, if in the area, IMO). And the hang-gliding at the Torrey Pines Gliderport:

There is good food from a 'food truck' like setup. A nice set up for sitting and watching the parasailers and having lunch or a snack. TIP: Use the restroom before going there (outhouses (and not nice ones) are all that's available).

Lots of hiking around the area, too. My daughter spends as much time outdoors as possible (she has Visual Snow Syndrome) so we are always looking for outdoor options.

Last suggestion. Fisherman's Restaurant in San Clemente. It's on the pier. Awesome food, great specials during the week if seated by 6pm. Oversized servings of sherbet and ice cream. Indoor and abundant outdoor (with warmers) seating. Reasonably priced public parking close by.

Depending on the interests of the older one they might like to do the "Mindstorms" class, where you build a robot out of Lego and technic pieces. It's pitched at an older age group (my son wanted to do it last time but wasn't old enough).

Some of the rides are definitely going to be "young" for a 14 year old, but I'd think the technic coaster, Ninjago ride, and some of the building classes would be fun. The factory tour might also interest a teenager.

All-in I think 14 isn't the ideal age for Legoland, but there's enough stuff that it could still be a fun day.
