Carlsbad Inn construction

Here is a photo from this afternoon at Carlsbad Inn. The pool is new but not finished. The courtyard is totally torn apart.

Well, we aren't pool people anyway, but I'd've thunk that from last October when they'd just closed the pool, to this October, the darn place would be put back together. We go the week before Halloween.

Things slowed down a lot after March, not sure why.

What are they putting in the grassy courtyard?

It is a massive water-proofing project. A good portion of the resort sits on top of the parking garage. There was concern that if this project wasn’t undertaken, the garage could fail and that would be catastrophic.

The grassy courtyard will be a grassy courtyard upon completion but we will have grills and a bar area. The new pool is larger and the hot tub has been relocated. The adult hot tub remains the same.

I’m here now. Things are moving along. The pool just opened at 4pm today. Kind of exciting. Appointment only for 2 hour increments like many timeshare facilities are doing. Projected completion including courtyard is May 2021.

As of last weekend they were water testing the waterproofing over the garage. Various installations (firepits, etc) are still under construction. Looks like adult spa has a large trellis/gazebo structure being built around it. Nothing usable other than the main pool area.
