St Maarten Car Rental

I have used Unity for a number of years and been pleased with their price and service. http://www.unitycars.com/

My guess is if you use the search function on TUG you can find threads with other alternatives as well.

As a frequent car renter on sxm as well as a follower of TTOL, an sxm site, the conventional wisdom is to rent from a local agency and Unity, AAA, and my favorite Kenny's are all highly recommended. You can contact all 3 and go with the lowest price. I request a "scratch and dent" for less concern about a new bump although it has never happened. Be sure to ask from whoever you rent from if they want you to lock the doors or not when at the beach and never, ever, never leave anything in the car even if you are just running into a store.

Definitely ask for a 'scratch and dent' or you mya be on the hook for $$$. As well, make sure that the SPARE TIRE is in the car. When we were there a few years ago thieves would target the spare tire and it was the first thing that the rental company checked when we returned the car. If you go to a beach, Baie Rouge is good. For 'car insurance' rent 2 beach chairs from the guys in the parking lot... cheap insurance to make sure that your car is not stolen or damaged. St. Marteen is one of the better islands but it is still 3rd world.
