That is terrible, it is funny (because no one got hurt) but wow that honestly is terrifying.

Just in the last few days a 79 year old woman reversed out of the parking lot at CVS went through a small low wooden rail type fence and went down an embankment landing upside down on Pacific Coast Highway. She died instantly and surprisingly no one was hurt on the highway. People are incensed because there was a nonfatal accident at the same place and they wonder why there isn’t a metal guardrail keeping people from driving off the edge of the parking lot. I’m guessing her age was a factor, but seems like a dangerous situation that could be remedied.

We were stuck on a two lane mountain hwy behind a sedan. They were often going 35 mph in a 60. When I was able to pass I thought it was going to be some old guy but it looked a bunch of stoners.

How did you conclude this was an older driver? The article did not mention the name or age of the driver. In Ontario, seniors at 80 and over are tested every two years in order to renew their driver's licence. Many other jurisdictions have similar rules.

I have over 60 years of driving experience and almost 2 million kilometres under my belt. I have no issue with older drivers being regularly retested. Having said that, I could make the same argument for many much younger drivers, based on their apparent lack of either driving skills and/or brains.

I have over 60 years of driving experience and almost 2 million kilometres under my belt. I have no issue with older drivers being regularly retested. Having said that, I could make the same argument for many much younger drivers, based on their apparent lack of either driving skills and/or brains.

Agreed that the driving test should be far more stringent for new drivers. Accepting the massive death and severe injury toll on our roadways is sheer madness in my opinion.

Nah. She was referring to people having to back up to leave a parking space, and a severe drop is right there, not safely blocked.

I actually just saw this. A kid was hit in the head and pulled underwater, but thankfully lived to tell about it. Also I read somewhere a kid was seen with a hand bandaged. Not sure if it maybe is the same kid. And a girl was taken away by ambulance.

Ok. Hearing the driver did not have a license and also had a passenger in the car with her. Both drunk. Splash party was going on at the other end of the pool thankfully. This all could have been much worse.

Heard the director of the activities kept the driver in the pool until the police came. Maybe trying to escape - don't know.

Also because of the ages involved, the State Police are not releasing the identity of the driver or any other information right now.

I'm thinking maybe an unlicensed teen driving around the parking lot. Had been drinking. Lost control. I read the state trooper had to console her before he put her into the police car. Well she's in deep do do now.

I’m at smugglers notch we drove around the resort yesterday and saw rescue squad and fire trucks but didn’t think much about. Today we drove Where the parking lot is and saw concrete barrier where the car drove thru the fence?

Yes. I heard they did a great job clearing everything up, fixing the fence and installing the barriers by this morning and opened the pool.

Wouldn’t you want the pool drained after a vehicle entered? Unknown leakage of oils and lubricants from the car.

I don't know if it needed to be drained, but I am sure they were meticulous in cleaning it and making sure it was good to go. They don't need any more bad publicity.
