We are heading to CV mid October. I'm wondering if the shuttle is available to the hotel and if the hotel pools/restaurants are open for use if staying at the timeshare. Also, any recommendations for local restaurants would be appreciated.

The past two times we were there it wasn’t running but we were told “sometime soon”. The bummer is the free self parking is gone at the JW so without the shuttle you have to walk or pay. If you eat they do validate some of it.

The shuttle was running every hour to the grocery store when we were there in July. They weren't running it to the hotel as at the time the hotel was not allowing Canyon Villa guests access due to capacity. That restriction was to be lifted a few days after we left and I understand that the shuttle was to resume.

Thank you so much for the updates. I am hopeful that the shuttle will run and we'll be able to use the JW facilities while we are there.

I'm here now. Shuttle is running. Not as frequently and they do go to JW. Perhaps they will increase the frequency in October? I haven't paid that much attention as we aren't planning on going there and have our car for local jaunts.

We dined at the JW restaurants Roy's and Twenty6. Everything at the hotel available for use except maybe the pool on busy weekends.

Twenty6 has live music on the weekends and it's outside. It's really pleasant to sit outside and listen to the music. Food service is also available at the outdoors area.

Off property, we dined at the Keg and the Barrio Queen in the nearby Desert Ridge shopping area.

We also made a special trip to dine at the famous Barrio Cafe on 16th street. https://www.barriocafe.com/
I'm crazy about Mexican food and we don't often find this more traditional Mexican cooking in NorCal. Definitely worth a trip.

Thanks for the dining suggestions. We haven't been to any of those you mentioned. We'll give them a try.

Are the Barrio Queen and Barrio Cafe restaurants related to each other?

They are no longer related. Barrio Cafe is the original. The original owner and a partner started the Barrio Queen restaurants but she has since left that operation and it is now separate. In my experience, Barrio Cafe is far superior.

The JW is not an option this week due to a convention. This is our third trip to CV and the JW has not been available during any of those trips. Bad luck I guess.
