Can't rescind because we can't find a contract number.

My wife and I bought a timeshare at the Westin Kaanapali that we are now trying to rescind. We have been unable to find a contract number anywhere in any of the paperwork we were given. The only mention of a contract number we've found is on the rescission form and that's blank. Does anyone know where this number is located?

In the mean time call whatever credit line they opened for you to purchase, and express your desire to rescind and cancel the contract, let them know that you are missing information in your documents and that is why you are contacting them to cover your bases, fax the rescission document with missing contract number to them. This is a breach and should be documented with the lender.

There must be a contract number in your documents, other than recission document. Look at the first page of your original contract.

Good luck.

Fill out everything you do know on the rescission form and submit it. Be sure to follow the instructions exactly. Are you within the time period for rescission? Maybe you could also make a copy of the page that you signed to include with your rescission.

If you can find a contract number, on your letter, just change the wording to "we are rescinding the attached contract," and then attach a copy of the first page of the contract.

Don't delay - do this today, because you must rescind within the number of days allowed by local law.

good advice, and I'd go one step further to provide the last page that contains your signature.

Across the top of each page in our packages, there was a sequence of numbers of the form xx-xx-xxxxxx -- the last part is the contract number.
