It seems like RCI never seems to find new ways to frustrate members.
As a Platinum member, I am entitled to use 50% of my RCI Points for Points Partners. My 2011 total points allocation is 168,000 points, so I am entitled to use 84,000 points for RCI Points Partners.
A few weeks ago, I booked air tickets on RCI Points Partners, using 48,080 points. Therefore, I should have 35,920 points left for RCI Points Partners in 2011. Yet, my RCI Points account says I have 0 points for RCI Points Partners, and won't let me book anything.
So, I called RCI Points. The first rep I spoke to couldn't figure out what to do. (He also could not speak good English and I had to repeat over and over again what I was trying to do, until I started feeling like I was in a Monty Python routine.) He transferred me to someone else, who took about 20 minutes to figure out that I did in fact have points left to use. She said she would make a note on my account that I had 35,920 points available, but that she didn't have a way to book any travel for me, so she transferred me to a third person, Marla.
This third rep, Marla, said I had used all my points for the year (even though there was now supposedly a note on my account saying I had 35,920 points available.) After some discussion back and forth, Marla agreed I had 35,920 points available for Points Partners. She said she could try to book the travel I wanted, but I would have to pay an extra fee for booking by phone instead of online. I said that was unacceptable, and asked her if she could contact RCI's web support or put in a work ticket with them to get my online account fixed.
She said no, I would have to call the main RCI Points number and start all over again if I wanted someone to fix my online account. (By this time, RCI Points had closed for the evening.) I said "I've been on the phone for 45 minutes, and you're just telling me to call the main RCI Points number all over again? I don't have time for this." I didn't raise my voice, I didn't say anything mean, those were the exact words I used. And she hung up on me.
Any suggestions for whom I can contact at RCI to get my Points Partners problem fixed? I also am not happy about the rep hanging up on me.
I am just having zero luck with my timeshares tonight. I just tried booking a week with Bluegreen, and twice in a row I got reps that didn't know how to handle my type of ownership, which has never happened to me before. Now, Bluegreen is closed for the night, too, and I wasn't able to book my week. So, after over an hour on the phone tonight, nothing got done and I have to try again tomorrow.
