Hello!
Does anyone have any leads on cheapo airfare to Cancun? I'm planning on a trip in April 2009, and right now I can plan it around the airfare. I'll be flying out of San Jose (first choice), San Francisco, or Oakland California.

Also, is it cheaper to book directly with the airline or via the outlets ie., Priceline, Orbits, Travelocity, etc.? I've never used any of these and since I haven't I'm a bit sceptical about using them. Thank you all!

I use Expedia to price check and then check with the airlines to see who's cheaper. Also check if any vacation outlets like TNT are selling airfare on their charters to fill them up. If you hit them at the right time it can be cheap.

I just made reservations (Continental) for my Brother-In-Law and family (total 4) from Sacramento to Cancun for 1714.24 to fly Saturday, January 31.

I thought that was pretty good, even though I haven't checked fares to Cancun for awhile. A ticket from Sacramento to Cabo is a lot more than that right now.

Like Kenrabs, I usually go to Expedia or one of those and get the rates and then go to the airline to make the reservation.

A lot of times if you book through the airlines directly and the prices drops a certain amount you can get a credit for a future flight if you ask. I use yapta to monitor this.

Cancun airfare - Yapta came thru!

Thank you all for your responses, and a BIG thank you Kenraps for the Yapta referral - I was able to secure 4 reservations for $1440.24 and signed up for the 'Track Price Drop'. We'll have to fly out of SFO but it's no biggie for us. We're all set to go! :whoopie:
