My wife and I own at the Manatten Club but our life and financial status are radically altered. Paying the yearly maintenance fee is now a burden and we can no longer afford to pay. We are Canadians. Is anyone out there in the same boat?

I'm not in the same boat but I understand that the maintenance fees @ Manhattan Club have become so high that many owners can no longer afford pay for it. You can't cancel a recorded deed, however you may be able to deed it back if you can't find a buyer. There's always another option and that is just walk away (which may or may not have a downside).

Another option may to book a desirable week and rent it out to cover expenses. Also, TUG does have a free timeshare giveaway Forum in case you wish to find a taker.

In any event, DO NOT pay anyone any upfront money to someone who claims they can cancel your deed. That is just a scam to lighten your wallet. They'll simply take your money and disappear forever.

Welcome to TUG and best of luck!

Hello, sorry to hear about your change in circumstance.
Please read through THIS thread; given that is near year's end, time may be of the essence for you to make a decision and take action.

May you have good luck going forward..

I am not sure whether The Manhattan Club is still under BlueGreen. If I am not mistaken, BlueGreen pulled out a while ago.
The only way that I know to get rid of The Manhattan Club is to stop paying the maintenance fees. This will not have any bearing on your credit rating. The Manhattan Club will call and offer a buyout of $100 or a free week some where (not sure what the current offer is). I am also not sure if being Canadian makes any difference.
We stopped paying fees three years ago and have never been happier.
Good luck!

Just checked. Manhattan Club is still operated by BlueGreen Vacations.

Good fortune to you whatever your decision.

would suggest contacting them to inquire about a surrender as a first option...as well as posting it up for free to see if someone might take it off your hands.

while both are a long shot, the chances arent zero! the only option that results in guaranteed failure is not trying.

I am planning to exit my Manhattan Club timeshare as well. Have you had any repercussions from stopping paying their tax and maintenance fees ?

I am also needing help to help my elderly father exit The Manhattan Club. Anyone out there had any success with the deed back program. The told me there was a waitlist and could take a long time. Thank you!

costs nothing to try, but as you have discovered the surrender program is hit or miss at best.

only options are to offer it up for free with incentives, or stop paying for most MH owners.
