We had a shortstay in Orlando for this week starting Monday. Once the parks were closed down, I called Hyatt last Friday to see what my options were - and I had no option other than to cancel and lose my points and reservation fee - so I let it sit. I would honestly rather the resort get something instead of it all being lost with Interval.

I got an email from Interval on Saturday - it mentioned options with full exchanges but not shortstays. I called Interval and after a long hold they said they could not help me because my account status was "different" and could only transfer me to Hyatt (who was closed by then for the weekend).

So I called Monday morning and the Hyatt Interval rep had to speak to a supervisor. They cancelled my reservation and gave me an AC which is good thru the end of 2020 but only for inventory available 30 days out. It may be slim pickings but I was happy they gave me some options.

We have another Interval reservation with a check in on May 1st - which is 1 day past the current window that Interval mentioned in their email for reservations thru April 30th. I hope for everyone's sake it has all calmed down by then. There are a lot of folks out of work because of the shutdowns and my lost vacations and revenues would pale compared to what they are experiencing. But we are all hopefull and do our contingiency planning.

The Hyatt Interval rep also said to keep an eye out for May 1st and past as the whole situation is fluid.

If anyone has a full week exchange and calls in please let us know what Hyatt is able to do. I suspect my May 1st full week is still iffy.

I had eplus so was able to move my Las Vegas to Palm Springs later in the year. However, I did learn one thing. They offered to extend my booking of March 27 in Las Vegas our over a year, she just said she would have to get an override to do this. I may still do that.

Update - they did give me a cert comparable to my week reservations that has no fee. They also waived the 30-60 day restriction - I can see out past that. it is good thru the end of 2020 but can be extended.

There are some restrictions - no Keys, no Fort Lauderdale, no SoCal and some others - but for the most part it was a very reasonable solution.
