On 12/10/2015 at about 7:00 pm est I will be cancelling 3 nights at Wyndham Midtown 45 at New York City. It's a 1 bedroom unit. I have had it up for rent for quite awhile, but no one seems to want it. So, to get my points back, I must cancel on the 10th.

I have a question.
If you cancel the reservation, are the points go to regular points and will expire on 12/31/15?
The reason i am asking is, i used pooled points (expire feb. 2017) to book a week in December 2015. Then i cancelled my reservation last week, and the points went back to my regular points (not pooled points) which will expire 12/31/15.
I am not a wyndham expert and wondering if it is normal.
If they really expire by the end of this month, the only option i have is deposit to rci.
Thanks.

Call the reservation line and explain your problem - they should have returned to credit pool points. They can look it up and change it.

I also have the same problem with credit pool points returned to 2015 regular points and also to 2018 regular points (how does that happen). I plan to wait until within 15 days of the end of the year to call them since any cancellations made after that I would forfeit anyway. And I do a lot of cancel/rebook and changing reservations (especially during the holiday season.

If memory serves me correctly, the new rules applied to reservations made after a certain point which I think was early August. But I've been wrong before and I did not take the time to go back and review the actual letter that went out last summer.

Yes, I forgot about that change since it dit not apply to my points - I canceled all of my reservations and moved the points to the credit pool just before the the deadline for that process and after the August change. The OP should call the reservation line and they can explain the rules that apply to his/her points.
