I need to cancel a reservation and rebook something as we are supposed to check in to Marco tomorrow but they are getting the storm. Of course I now can’t cancel online so I won’t get the pts back right away.

Will owner services still honor my pts back if I fill out the cancellation form in the chat! So frustrating

I don't know the answer to your question (the answer from previous natural disasters seems to be 'usually'), but if you purchased the MVC Travelex insurance don't cancel.

Edit! After an hour I got through to someone on chat. The technical issue was that the Bonvoy account for my nephew was pin protected. I couldn’t cancel the reservation as I made him primary with his Bonvoy number. They either have to have the pin or escalate to a supervisor. I got the pin and it was done in a few minutes

I didn't think you could cancel an MVC owner/point reservation through Marriott.com/Bonvoy?

You can’t. But appears you can’t cancel it on the mvc site if the Bonvoy account attatched to the reservation is pin protected. I had never had this problem I guess because mine was not but my nephews was. The rep in chat said that he had never seen it happen before. Not sure if it’s any pin account or just because my mvc no longer matched the Bonvoy account the reservation was now on

Interesting. It seems then that the MVC cancellation process on the MVC site is calling an API that is setup through the Marriott.com/Bonvoy system.

That's a level of integration we've not seen before, interesting to see what else it can do.....
