The Introduction to Starwood FAQ discusses canceling within 60 days of check-in, but says nothing about canceling earlier. Could someone please summarize what happens then? Are your Staroptions returned? How long must you wait before being permitted to use them for an alternative reservation? Can you do this on MyStarCentral...or must you call Starwood? Can you use returned star options to obtain a deposit with Interval International? Anything else interesting here?

If you cancel MORE than 60 days before check-in, there is no penalty.

You can cancel online - log onto mystarcentral.com, find the reservation, and click on the drop down menu to cancel.

If things are working correctly, you get your deeded week/Staroptions back immediately.

If you still have the usage of the deeded week, you can deposit it with II.

If you have converted the deeded week to Staroptions, by using part of the week, or rolling it over to the next year, you cannot deposit it, because you can not deposit Staroptions.

In other words, you can only deposit exactly what you own.
