I would like to ultimately have a 2 night stay. However since it is currently not in the express reservation period, I would need to book a 3 night stay. I don't have enough points for 3 nights. If I book the 3 nights and pay the extra for the 3rd night then during the express reservation period, cancel and rebook 2 nights (which is what I wanted in the first lace) would I get a refund of what I paid for the extra points?

the points would be returned to your account.

Why don't you borrow from next years points. If you get what you want return the points to next year.

I had already pulled next years points into 2015 before Wyndham changed their policy.
