Can you cancel a reservation within 30 days of check-in and deposit the unit in Interval?

Can someone please help me - I have brain freeze tonight!

I've gone through the Vistana website and searched on TUG, but can't find the answer to this - if I can't use my reservation next month, can I cancel it (which makes it only good for SO reservations within 60 days of check-in) and deposit the unit in Interval for use through 2022? If so, how close to check-in can I cancel and deposit in Interval? Thanks! Pam

Since you can only use it as SOs, I suspect home resort is lost. You can only deposit your home resort in to II. I hope someone else can come along and clarify as I am also interested to know.

Ugh. This is in Maui, so I'm hoping I might be able to save *some* value in the week. If I'm able to bank it in Interval, I can at least hope to trade back into a comparable week. I'll call in tomorrow and post what I find out.

I tried to do this two years ago and was denied by a Vistana rep. I was told once the SOs were used, they could not be reverted back to the original week for deposit.

Of course with Level 1 reps, YMMV.

Good luck and let us know the outcome.

I had booked using SOs within 8 months, cancelled and was able to deposit my original week in II. I do not know about restricted SOs as I think the restrictions may apply.

I did everything online.

That is interesting. So how do they determine what can be deposited into II with the flex ownerships? Do they sell options within seasons with flex? What determines the amount of options to deposit a 1 bedroom?

It is based on TPU and unit size. There is a chart that someone posted around here somewhere.

I had a 51,700 Flex Package, my deposit was the entire package. Not sure if it could have been broken up or not. What I could see on II was pretty much everything.

I could only exchange for my point value or less.

For example, a 2BR in Shoulder season at Grand Ocean was 37,000 points. The same 2BR during the summer there showed 110,000 point value.

Sorry, I'd love to let you know what I found out, but the wait time has been well over an hour whenever I've called in. This is a mandatory 1BR week, not Flex points. I'll post when I eventually reach Vistana and get an answer. My question is can a unit be deposited in Interval if has the 60-day booking restriction in VSE? It sounds like the definitive answer is maybe?

I finally got an answer from owner services. I can cancel the reservation ($50 cancellation fee applies) and use SO's for a 60-day restricted reservation, or bank in Interval.
Is this a home week reservation? I am in a similar dilemma.

Yes, it's my home resort. I split up my mandatory resort 2BR lockoff and reserved a 1BR and studio last February. I'm unable to use the 1BR reservation, so I'm looking for the best way to recoup value. Since it will be restricted to a 60 day booking in VSN, I'm thinking I might do better with an Interval exchange, but not sure. :ponder: This year's calendar looks pretty full.
