My wife and I were having a discussion about food. She told me she NEVER tasted:

chicken wings
a Whopper
Big Mac
Italian Sub
BEER

I told her, "That's downright un-American" lol

Can you believe this?

ps...My wife is 56 years old... and I've known her since 1966...So I know she's telling the truth. I just didn't realize all the good stuff she's been missing..

pss...Her reason for not trying these things:: They're all too messy and she doesn't like the smell of beer....

What The Heck?

What the heck have you two been eating (I assume you eat the same food)?

Recently, I was at Costco and saw the chef from our favorite restaurant standing in line to buy a hotdog. And I can remember hearing Julia Child tell listeners on a radio program, when asked what her favorite food was, that she loved to eat a Big Mac.

Its time to take your wife to McDonalds!!!!

[P.S. - I told my wife that I saw the chef at Costco eating a hotdog - while we were dining at his restaurant - and she lost her appetite for her food because she believed it was from Costco.]

So is your wife skinny? It seems like picky people are often skinny. I wish I was picky so I could be skinny, I love all of those things and definitely have not passed by any food because it was too messy!

Hey, leave your pretty wife alone! I have never eaten chicken wings for the same reason, and I never did like beer, but that doesn't mean we are un- American...just discriminating in what we eat! ;)
The only 'messy' food I like are some Montgomery Inn ribs...but we don't live near Cincinnati anymore. :bawl: so we have to settle for Rib City ribs here.
Just love her the way she is Carta!
Hope to see you two next time you are down this way.

I believe it. I never ate a pork chop, pork roast, crab or lobster until I was an adult. And I didn't have Pizza until I was about 16, and then it was " 'Merican Pizza," from a chain Pizza place. My mother thought seasoning things meant salt and pepper, or if she was really exotic, paprika.

I don't remember ever eating fast food as a child or teen, either. We were lower-middle class. My parents owned their home, but we almost never ate out. In later years, after the house was paid for and the children were grown and gone they did, but not when we were growing up. To this day I really don't care much for most fast food, although I will eat "fresh Mex" and In and Out. Ribs? Only with rub, never sauced.

Oh, I wish all picky eaters were skinny! I'm a very picky eater (and a vegetarian for the past 28 years), and I'm quite fat.

I believe it. I never ate a pork chop, pork roast, crab or lobster until I was an adult. ...
I've still never eaten those! No other shellfish, either. The only animals I've ever eaten are a few types of fish, lamb, beef, chicken, turkey, plus I tried a bite of ham once (didn't like it) and bacon a few times.

This thread gave me a chuckle!:)

I am a fussy eater, so I too have never eaten:
a big mac--too much yucky stuff on it
an italian sub--don't like the salami type lunchmeats--I just like a basic turkey and swiss sub

I have tried beer (freshman year in college) and I still don't like it 30-odd years later.

I eat Whoppers but I think I get them minus a couple of items. (It's been a while)

Wings are okay, I just don't like the skin too much.

BTW, I am not thin and never have been!!!!

PS. on top of being fussy, certain foods no longer sit well with my gut so the list of foods I don't eat has grown!!

PPS My husband eats almost anything and everything too--and he is used to my idiosyncracies. He actually likes eating all the stuff I leave on my plate!!!!

I have eaten chicken wings but I never do - when we get chicken dinners anywhere my husband gets passed those.
WHoppers I do like - minus the pickles and lettuce
Don't eat Big Mac's (really don't like Mcdonald's)
Don't eat Italian Subs
Don't like beer

I have never eaten shellfish, and do not eat ANY kind of seafood at all
do not eat lamb, veal, or venison
Do not really care much for any kind of pasta dish with red sauce, although my kids love it - so I do make spaghetti, stuffed shells, lasagna..
Do not like white potatoes, except for french fries once in a while.

Boy, I am so picky - I should really be skinny, unfortunately there are just too many other good things to eat!!

Call Burger King! Since she's never had either a Whopper or a Big Mac she's a prime candidate for a "Whopper Virgins" commercial.

And even I have tried that....YUCK:eek: and it WAS fom our 'pond'. But at least it never got a chance to take a bite out of Dakota. Gave some to our neighbors and they liked that kind of stuff.
NO, Joan is NOT fat! But I know what you mean...we all think we are.

Help stimulate the economy and take that woman out for a few lunches:D

My mother had her first cheeseburger when she was nearly 70. She now wonders what took her so long!

Yes, you never asked her about it!!!

When I dated (and married) my wife she was a vegetarian, along with MIL and FIL. I AM NOT. Always was uncomfortable at thanksgiving with the vege-meatloaf, ordering wings, french dip, etc., but she was worth it and didn't care.

When pregnant with our son she could no longer stand fish and had to eat chicken. Her mom finds out and secretly has chicken fingers in Tahoe (at Bill's of all places.) As they say the rest is history.

Soooooooo, now I have to share my buffalo wings during Sunday football games and happy hours...

We have made a pact of NO PIZZA for January. If it holds up I should lose 5-10 lbs!

Hey my Dad just turned 93 this week and he refuses to eat pizza! He loves spaghetti and macaroni but just will not go for pizza! The sad thing is that I think if he would try it he would really like it! Funtime
