Can I use RCI *AND* II to trade my unit?

I just got the deed for my new timeshare (resale, thanks to TUG) and I am ready to register it for trading with RCI or II.
2BR fixed week 12 SVR

Here's my question. Do I register with both II and RCI, then deposit each week as I wish, or do I have to commit the unit to one company?

Long-term, the resorts in II are more appealing to me, but I do see an RCI exchange I would like to make for next summer.

You will have to find out which "major" exchange company your resort is affiliated with---RCI or II. If affiliated with both, then you can choose which exchange company you want to use.

You CANNOT put your "one week" into both exchange companies. One you give your week to an exchange company, IT IS GONE.

(Sending you an e-mail.)

I believe Sheraton Vistana Resort trades with RCI or II, so theoretically I could deposit the :

2012 week12 with RCI
and the 2013 week12 with II

and then in March of 2012 the 2014 week12 would be available for deposit with either?

Since this is a Starwood resort, and Starwood has unique trading rules, I am going to move your question to that forum where you will get expert help.

You have it right. You wil have to decide if you want to pay the dues to keep two accounts running when you only currently have one week to deposit.

I own at SVR, and it doesn't have much trading power in RCI. It has far more trading power in II, where it has the Starwood to Starwood preference.

I would not open an RCI Acct. unless I wanted a very specific trade that is not available with II, AND you are sure that you have the TPU (points light) to get that trade.

So the first thing you have to decide is where you want to go with your first trade. If it's with II, there is no reason to pay to join RCI at this point, because you have to pay a yearly membership fee, whether you trade or not.

You can deposit a true fixed SVR week 2 years out from the check-in date.

Also - have you checked the RCI TPU for your deposit to see what it's worth?

I see that you said you wanted to enroll in RCI first - what trade are you looking for?

Great point, Bev.

Although I did get 3 years RCI membership free when I bought the first timeshare from the developer. :wall: Oh. My. Goodness.

Denise, I'm already an RCI weeks member. I checked the TPUs before buying; it's a Spring Break week sometimes so it actually has a good number of trading units.

We want to do the Tradewinds cruise to the BVIs for Scuba next summer. Someone else booked the June date I wanted because the darn thing has taken so long to close, but we can do July. Once I get that out of my system, I think Starwood will be the way to go... especially in a few years when my youngest finishes high school and we're not so bound to the calendar.

One of the best things about finding TUG is all the new resorts I've been introduced to that I wouldn't have considered before. I think I'm getting addicted.

In that case, you should put off joining II, until right before you are ready to make a deposit in II, to extend your membership as long as possible.

Sometimes the developer will not permit you to put outside weeks in a developer account - that's something you will have to check on. (For instance, Starwood will not permit you to deposit outside timeshares in a II developer Acct.)
