Can I do anything with expiring Wyndham points in RCI

Title says it all. These were pandemic time points, banked into RCI and then extended for a year (or two?) beyond the original expiration. They're expiring Dec. 31st. We just haven't found a way to use them. Is there anything I can do with them before they just expire? Thanks.

You can pay to extend them again.

I don't think so. Once you have extended so many times, you really cannot do that anymore with Wyndham points. I have 131,000 that expire 5/31. There seems to be nothing I can do after already extending.

RCI is expensive to use, and once you spend $300 on an exchange, you can add the insurance, but it only covers the trading power. If you change your mind on that trip you grabbed to use those points, you are out the exchange fee and just get back points you have a hard time using.

RCI has increased their price by a lot.

I was looking at RCI on my Wyndham page for the first time the other day. They were offering a discount on the exchange fee.

I do not want to deposit any more points into RCI since I have 406K points expiring on Dec 31st (pandemic points, have already been extended to the maximum). If we can't find a good travel match between now and the end of December, is there anything else I can do with these points? I should have paid more attention to banking them, I know that. I already have next year's points fully booked, I just didn't get around to doing anything with this year's points unfortunately. Thanks for any suggestions.

You can convert them to Wyndham Rewards points or maintenance fees. I don't remember, but there may be a restriction that you can only do this with developer ponits.

I never did it because the conversion rate sucks. But I guess it beats losing them.

You may also be able to make a booking and "sell" it to Extra Holidays and monetize it that way too. Never did that either. I have always been able to move or use my points.

There's definitely a few bargains in RCI for sure. Even with the exchange fee, but they are getting to be few and far between.

What is Extra Holidays? Is that like the people who rent out units on Ebay or something? I saw some of those on there but I had no idea if it was OK to do that so I haven't.

It looks like you need at least 2 months left on your reservation to rent it through extra holidays and I only have until Dec. 31st to use these points unfortunately. The only thing I can think of other than RCI is booking reservations and renting them out, but I have no idea if it's OK to do that or not. Does anyone know?

No, it's not okay to rent RCI reservations, but if you have friends who want to travel, you can add guests.

I mean can I book directly with Club Wyndham points and rent out those reservations? I wouldn't try to rent out RCI reservations, but I am wondering about reservations that I booked with my own points. I am not sure what else I can do with them at this point unless I deposit them into RCI. I already have enough points I'm not able to use in RCI though.

You aren't supposed to, despite what some people on here might tell you.

The only approved mechanism to do so is through Extra Vacations.

I think it's a little more nuanced than that.

You can if it is "not commercial", but Wyndham gets to decide what is and is not commercial. If you are only doing it to get rid of some expiring 2024 points, maybe not a big deal. I would not make a habit of it though.

my sister had a similar issue and she got a random notice that her RCI was cancelled and she lost almost 600,000 points. Shes currently trying to have them recovered but isnt having luck. hers were all pandemic points too from Wyndham. Meanwhile i was trying to help her use them and now they are gone :(

Cancelled, or expired? They are potentially very different.

But, if they expired, then no she is not getting them back. Many of us are still working through a backlog of pandemic timeshare assets, and I'll have some that are likely to expire soon as well.
