If I decide to purchase a package from Hilton to go to another resort where I will attend a second sales presentation, will the timeshare “home” be in that state? Or can I get the “home” in the first state I attended? For example. We are going to South Carolina. If offered and I buy the package to go to another state - Hawaii. Will the timeshare I purchase have to be Hawaii or can it be South Carolina. I’m much closer to SC or even Florida.

The sales centers generally sell where you are visiting, not all the sales staff are licensed to sell real estate in other states. For example, I attended in Carlsbad CA and asked about Hawaii deeds, but the claimed to only be licensed to sell CA. I took it with a grain of salt because the corporate phone sales people offered any location that might have been available. They might have been trying to move the inventory that was being pushed, like boiler room stock pushers.

I was looking for a specific deed, which I finally located resale much cheaper than buying direct from HGVC. It's best to study the sticky notes in the HGVC forum and choose a resale with a low annual cost per point rather than just something convenient to your home location. Points can be used anywhere. Vegas deeds tend to be most favored for the lower annual fees.

Do not buy from the developer -- anywhere. You can purchase on the secondary market for a fraction of the cost.

There are multiple threads on this board about Hilton resale which is a good place to start your research.

Thank you. I’m learning more and appreciate your response. Definitely will go the resale route.

That makes sense about the licensing. I did notice many Vegas videos. I’ll consider that. Also I would like the best maintenance fees. That is important to my husband and me.

We did buy a developer property and that was a mistake... don't make our mistake. However, we did buy the property in Vegas even though we were at a sales presentation in Chicago.
