I've traded into the Wyndham Royal Vista, Pompano Beach arriving in early Sept. The Royal Vista reviews here, are a little long in the tooth. I would really appreciate any info (In the last couple of year's) on what to expect as far as on-site activities? What makes this resort different? I'm less interested in the furniture and staff attitude, and more interested in the on-site activites. I'm getting worried that this place doesn't really exist.:D

Planning on being there 8/11 for 4 nites.

Great resort nice beach and pool(s). Good location for family. Nothing negative to say--was last there earlier this summer!

Good to hear from a recent visitor. Thanks for the update.

I just posted a review. In summary the reort location is wonderful, the size of the resort make it great not crowded and the beach is not corwded either. The water is warm and clear, and we even were able to catch bait fish with our hands as they were swimming in the ocean.

The family enjoyed it so much they want to come back next year, over going to Dayton Beach. The resort is a little dated, but he rooms are large and the view is wonderful.

Shorter to Las Olas Blvd and the part of FL that you might be thinking of.

Jya-Nina, in your opinion would the second week in February be a hard trade into this resort?

Impossible. The winter clan books Feb at the 13th month before 8:15 AM or earlier. There are ARP owners who literally move in for MONTHS during the winter. Sometimes, you can find a rental. $$$$$

Santa Barbara or Sea Gardens might be a easier trade and/or cheaper rental. And Ft Lauderdale is 5 miles south on A1A, with a larger inventory and more dining spots and nightlife.

Palm Aire is not on the beach, but it is very nice and probably an easier trade. I don't value beach front in February. Even in Florida.

JT,
We like to spend 4 weeks at Royal Vista in Jan/Feb timeframe each year. We love that the resort is Oceanfront and fairly modest in size - I think it has around 100 units total. Lot's of activities on the beach available - kayaks, sailboats, jet ski's, etc all available for rent. Lots of open beach to walk in both directions with surfers and kiteboarders to watch along the way if the wind and waves are good. You can take a fishing charter or scuba/snorkel trip out from the docks near the Hillsborough inlet (only a couple miles north on A1A, or you can rent a boat and cruise the intra-coastal at the base of the Atlantic Ave bridge in Pompano Beach. We love the drive north on A1A to Boca Raton and Delray Beach - a couple of really nice beach front restaurants along the way and in both towns. The drive south on A1A takes you to the Ft Lauderdale beaches - check out the water taxi for an inexpensive tour of the intra-coastal and all the ultra rich homes and yachts. There are also a couple tour boats you can pick up on the riverfront near Los Olas Blvd. In the winter there are a lot of retired people that basically live at RV for several weeks. I'm sure there are a lot more families with young children around in the summer that would take advantage of the volleyball court on the beach, etc. The resort does have an activities schedule which I believe has included things like a lunch cookout, dinner cookout with entertainment, steel drum band, water exercise, beach yoga, bingo and probably more stuff for kids in the summer. You should be able to call the resort for more info. Since Santa Barbara, Sea Gardens, and Palm Aire are also in Pompano Beach there are some activities that are available at the other resorts - most notably is the golf (with discounts) at Palm Aire and the dinner cruise on the Serenity yacht at Santa Barbara. People from the other resorts will come to RV for the beach activities. Finally, there is an onsite deli which is open for breakfast and lunch as well as a poolside/oceanfront Tiki Bar.
Hope this is helpful information for you - have fun!

PS - There is also a fitness center and we were told a year ago they were planning to get some new equipment, but it hadn't happened yet the last time we were there.

Don't know. I believe it is hard even doing internal exchange. But since I do not plan travel too far in Feb. until my kids old enough, so I never try to monitor how inventory goes there. Now, after the new on-line system, I can not check them outside of 10 month.

I do believe a lot of renters make reservation on it, so you may be able to get last min. cancel deal when travel day approach.

Doug,

That's very helpful information. Thanks much, helps in planning the week.

I am going to try to exchange into this resort for February 09.

Royal Vista

Does anyone know if there is any progress being made on the hot tub that was supposed to be put in 4 years ago?
