I'll be on a cruise to Cozumel in a few weeks and was wondering about SIM cards for an iPhone. Can I purchase one there and use it again in Cabo?
Does Mexico have the same carriers in both or all(Mexico) locations?

This was discussed since Thanksgiving.

Do a search in the Mexico forum by going to the Mexico section like you did to post, then on the far right corner of the blue bar, "Search this Forum". When you click on the arrow, you can search for calls from Mexico or calls from Cabo or calls using iPhone.

You will get a lot of information.

You can go to ATT and get a go phone plan. ATT will install the proper sim card for you. There is no activation fee. We bought a $25 plan for our Iphone and still have minutes on it that will expire. We also had an used ATT Go Phone so we could talk to each other when in different locations. Calling the USA using the Iphone is 25cents a minute.

We added the Skype app to the Iphone and had really good reception most of the time. These calls are 2cents a minute. Starbucks and other hotspots are easy to find. We did two weeks near Cancun and two weeks in Cabo and the phones worked out great.

There also is a free iphone app called magicjack. Download it, they give you a free local number near your home. You can use it to call free while on wifi. Took my iphone, put it on airplane mode, disabled data roaming and have used magicjack from wifi hotspots to call back to the states from Cabo.
