I just received a call to see if I was interested in a golf tournament in Orlando. I was surprised because it's after 7pm on the West Coast, they must work late at the call center

I had inquired about it online in 2023 and they are just now following up for the 2025 tournament.

I told her I don't have any plans to visit Florida next year and she agreed to close out the inquiry.
Strange, they must keep a waiting list for these events.

My wife and I attended the LPGA tournament in Orlando in January 2022 as part of an offer that also included an outdoor concert with food stations and open bar. I think it cost about $65 total and required a presentation, which I think is the last one we went to. The concert was cold, but Sheryl Crow and LeAnn Rimes performed and were great. I would definitely go again if offered. In 2023 and 2024 I have been in Orlando just after the dates of the concerts, but the performers they have had didn’t interest me anyway. I’m headed back there in 2025 with some friends for a golf trip, but I believe they have moved the tournament out a week or two.

yes, that is the tournament I was interested in at the time, but not now. I was just curious if anyone else had received calls since they appear to need attendees if they are scraping the bottom of the barrel calling me.

I do enjoy golf and watch the LPGA, those young ladies smash it a lot further than this old man can.

They must know that I would as soon watch paint dry as watch a golf tournament, much less live. So they have not called me :)

Cheers.

My problem would be that ANY call, I would immediately think SCAM even (especially) if the Hilton name is used in the call.

You are correct as my phone marked it as Spam. The caller ID was HGV MAX so I was just curious enough to want to verbally spar with the caller. 844-508-9414

We always attended the Bayhill tournament in Orlando. I remember trying to get Orlando and the RCI agent actually told me I should try to get the pga to change the date of the tournament because that was a busy week.

If the artists performing interest you, attending the concert and skipping the golf is always an option. If I remember correctly we went to the concert either Tues or Weds evening and went to the Pro Am on Weds or Thurs. The presentation was Friday am. $70 for free food and drinks plus two great artists was a nice evening. The rep we had for the presentation basically threw in the towel on me and exited stage left. She was trying to sell us on how she liked to travel. Totally tone deaf.

Didn't realize that they had music also. Concerts, I'm interested in, so this could work. But I can likely see them elsewhere, so it would have to be special. But thanks for the info. I was not aware that music was a factor at these.

Cheers.

I think last year they had 2-3 concert nights. I think these shows came out of the Diamond side of the company. We met a few employees at the concert and I think they might have been previously used as employee recognition events. I haven't look to see if there are any artists announced for 1/2025, but none of my golf buddies will pass for my wife, so attending one isn't an option anyway.

I went to a PGA tournament once. Aside from seeing Dustin Johnson 4-putt a green, what I found entertaining was the gallery -- a lot of folks walking around with beer in their hands..

This is a true story. Happened several years ago. Arnold Palmer was retired but he played in the pro am at the Bayhill
We were standing along the fairway and I saw Palmer tee off. My husband was no longer beside me. I was sorry he missed him until I looked across the fairway and my husband was talking to Arnie. He was demonstrating a swing to Arnie Arnie waved the group on and I saw him introduce his wife to my husband. Years later, my husband would say he showed Arnie Palmer how to improve his swing. Then as Alzheimer’s progressed, it was tiger woods in the story.
Another time he followed Steve Stricker in a practice round. Ends up riding in a cart with one of strickers staff all day. Then stricker bought him lunch.
