I'm so happy for anyone visiting our sunny state this week. My DD just put her suit on and headed to Huntington Beach, it's Jan 2nd right?

I remember going to the beach a few times right after Christmas growing up.

I read somewhere many years ago that people seeing the Rose Bowl parade and the weather there on New Years' Day accounted for a large percentage of the population influx to S. Cal.

Hope it holds a couple of weeks. We are anticipating our week in Anaheim later this month. Not counting on 'swimsuits around the pool', but sweaters at the Park will be a welcome change.

As early as 1886, Pasadena billed itself as a winter resort community for wealthy Easterners and Midwesterners. The Rose Parade was established in 1890 by the Valley Hunt Club as a way for these rich folks from back East and the Midwest to showcase the delightful winter weather of their new winter playground. :)

It's currently about 80 degrees here in the Sunny Southland.

My parents were hugely impressed by what Pasadena looked like on TV on New Years Day (much better than Detroit). It definitely influenced their decision to move to Santa Barbara in the 1960's. Which worked out well for me.

Jim it looks like the weather will continue to be nice through the 16th at least. I hope you enjoy your stay.

Perfect Weather this week at Newport Coast Villas

When I booked a week starting January 7th I knew most anything was possible concerning the weather -- but I NEVER expected temps in the low 70s almost every day. Absolutely amazing and wonderful.
