Does anyone know how much a cab is from Hacienda del Mar into Cabo? Can you take a bus from there, or is it too far to walk from the resort to the road? I know that it is a ways down from the road, but how far about? Does anyone know? Thanks. p.s. Is there a little grocery on site that would sell beer, milk, etc.

It is about a mile from the main hwy. to the resort. There is a little store on the property where you can buy essentials. I believe the cab to town is $10. You may want to rent a car so you can get to Costco, etc. If you listen to a timeshare presentation you can get a good discount on a car. It depends on how many times you want to go to town. You can call the concierge at the resort and they can answer your questions.

I just got an e-mail from the concierge at the resort and he said a taxi is $20 for up to 4 people to Cabo and they have a shuttle from the resort that is $10 per person.

Is there a little grocery on site that would sell beer, milk, etc.

The little grocery on the property is called Los Portales and has pretty good hours (something like 7am – 9pm). It has limited groceries (canned goods, dairy, bread, cold cuts, cereal, etc) limited fresh fruits, pretty good stock of beer, wine and soft drinks, some beach items, over the counter type medicines, magazines, ice cream, books and probably other things I have forgotten. Note that it is pretty pricey. We always have a car so I only use it for items I have forgotten to buy at one of the nearby mega stores.

If you are not renting a car your best bet (depending on the type of transportation you are coming in from the airport) is to have your driver stop on the way in from SJD airport and stock up with grocery items.

Also, the size of your refrigerator depends on the type of unit you have rented. Studios and some one bedrooms have smaller size refrigerators so keep that in mind if you are stocking up on the way in. The 2 bedrooms have full size refrigerators. Also, like much of the rest of Mexico there is only a cook top and not an oven. There is a full size microwave in all the units.

Another grocery alternative is to take a cab to the Wal-Mart or Costco about 5-6 miles from the property and stock up after you arrive. The Wal-Mart is one of the super ones with just about everything you could possibly want in fresh produce, meat, bakery, etc and the prices are very reasonable.

Also, if you are looking for a wide variety of exotic imported wine and liquor and fancy deli items including cold cuts and cheeses you will find a La Europa store about 4 miles from the property with a small but reasonably priced grocery next to it. You have to get off the main highway and onto the frontage road at the first opportunity and go down about a mile on it. You can easily return to the main road from there.

I probably gave you more information than you wanted but once I got rolling, I couldn’t stop. Let me know if you have any other questions. Harvey
