We have to decide between Cabo or Cancun this December. Unfortunately we cannot go to both :(.

An important factor is the weather, from my research on the internet it seems that In December and January Cabo can bee significantly cooler than Cancun. What was your experience in either or both?

We have been going to Playa del Carmen for the past 6 years in February and never had cold weather. Usually around 82 degrees and sunny. I would think December would be warm enough in Cancun since it is just north of Playa del Carmen.

It was comfortably cool in Cancun in December, but very windy.

In January 2018, we had some cool temps during the day. Cool enough that many weren't in or around the pool. Since we were from Ohio at the time, we were still in the pool.

IF you can get into Cabo in December it's nice. But right now it's really hard to get availability (at least from what I see in II/RCI/SFX) if you want non-AI. The water temps will be warmer on the Caribbean side however, if you're into snorkeling and such. It will get cool at night in Cabo though.

I already booked both, I will only keep one and retrade the other one. I have been a bit of a hoarder this year (I have other weeks booked), I prefered to book the best I could even if I knew I would have to release some of them at one point. I did it for the reason you mentioned, I feared I would not be able to book anything interesting if I waited to long.

We have gone to Cancun every January since 2011 and its always been nice weather- usually 75-85 each day, even swimming in the Caribbean sea. I think you will be good either place you go

We have vacationed in Cabo the first week of January. Temps can be mid 60s during day; little cooler at night. Being that it is sunny nearly all of the days, the temps didn’t bother us. We were at Grand Solmar Lands End, and would return there any time of the year. Now you have me thinking that we need to go back...which resort did you find?

Vista Encantanda through II
I have not seen any GSLE in a long time in II, it seems they are only depositing Ranchos these days.

It may be cooler, but a January 2017 trip we took to Cabo ( PB Sunset Beach and Playa Grande) had 14 days of warm sunshine.
