I am considering buying Wyndham Points. From the research I've done, they have a lot of resorts in various locations inside and outside of the US.
What is considered a good amount of points to have for weeks when the kids are out of school? Which resort has the lowest maintenance fees? Are you able to trade easly into another Wyndham resort? How hard is it to get a reservation at at good resort during a good week(Red)? Is there a particular resort that you would recommend purchasing at?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Wyndham Bali Hai, Wyndham Alexandria are a few resorts with good MF/Point Ratio's.... There is no exchanging with Club Wyndham Plus Points (or at least for what you are referencing)... all owners can book at any Wyndham resort based on availability. Availability during High demand times is not too bad as long as you plan in advance.... even last minute sometimes you can find some gems at certain locations. Some resorts have more rooms/availability than others, etc. If you really are planning on going to one resort very often, and are worried about getting your desired week; then you would want to get deeded at that resort as your home resort so you can get Advance Priority Booking priviledges.

But Honestly, I would suggest to all to get the best MF/Point ratio as possible at whatever resort and then just plan as far in advance as possible for booking your desired week/resort and you shouldn't have too much problems getting what you want. IMO. But it depends on what it is worth to you... Good to do lots of research before you make a decision

I would not let the cost per thousand on points be the driving factor. Pick a couple of resorts that you would want to go to in peak season. Look up their points for a Summer peak week for the room size you want. That gives you the answer on the number of points you need. If you do not have the points chart to access, post the resorts of interest and I am sure someone can provide the information on the number of points needed.

Like rrlongwell wrote, pick a resort and a week and unit size that you will want. We purchased at Wyndham Bonnet Creek so that we could use the ARP for spring break/christmas weeks. If we did two 2 bedroom units it would be 488,000 its so we bought a contract for 469K and figured we could drop a night or rent the additional.

When we were shopping we want all the points in one contract. We did pay a small purchase price but we were getting what we wanted so in the long run it was a good investment. Right now our kids are small so we till have the ability to travel in the off season but long term this was a good purchase for us.

As for other resorts we have never had a problem getting what we would like but we are not super picky that we have to stay at X or have to go during a certain week.

Good luck, do your homework and ask lots of questions.

FL Timeshare

Guys, I am thinking about purchasing some where on the FL east coast beach area. Any recommendations? I currently own a Myrtle Beach timeshare, but it's not a Wyndham. I'm looking for somewhere warm to visit during the Winter.

Im going to disagree with some of the above advice....I think in Wyndham, points are points...it doesnt matter where your points are based, what matters is what you pay for them...UNLESS you have a specific place you want to go most of the time, and the time you want to go is a high demand time

For example: South Florida beaches in the winter season, or Mid Atlantic beaches in the Summer or Datona Beach for bike week..in these cases you will want to buy points based at these resorts to have ARP (advanced reservation priority) available to you

A lot of the weeks at Wyndhams South Florida Beaches, were sold as fixed weeks and never converted to the points system...so points availability is not too much. Buying points based at one of these resorts may be advisable.....but
just be sure you understand that if you buy a converted fixed week your ARP is for that particular week, so before you buy , be sure you know whats being offered

Ron is right about fixed weeks conversions. Prime(winter in FL) owners generally do not convert(they use or rent). So your points will get you a selection of dog(not winter) weeks. The sales weasels con people into thinking their dog week converted points will get them prime weeks. But if few(if any) prime weeks converted they will not be (space)available.

If you really need South Florida in Prime season, the safest bet would to be to buy points deeded at Wyndham Royal Vista (in Pompano beach)....I believe this resort was all sold as UDI points, so you'll be able to ARP whatever week you want. If you want a 2 BD in Prime season, you'll need to buy 203,000 points.

I have never stayed at Royal Vista but I know it is highly regarded. The maintenance fees there are not among the lowest in the network, but this would be the safest bet for you.
