Question- do people sell or give their chairs they buy after visiting? We are planning to come in June- plan to buy chairs at costco- So we don't have to 1- look for them daily and 2- rent them- -does anyone leave-give-sell -their chairs ? My sister always just leaves them behind for whoever- just curious what other people do-suggest?

You might consider asking the pool guys if they have any that have been left behind by others. Might save you a few bucks.

Whenever we have extra things we bought I always leave them with the concierge or front desk to give to whomever checks in next- now I’ve found tug, i’ll offer here first. There is a thread for this.

We gave ours to a family checking in at the resort on our last day.

Some timeshares have an "Owner's Closet" or similar that contains things like chairs and coolers and boogie boards that are left by owners for other guests. Call the resort you'll be staying at and ask if they have such a thing available.

In case you're inclined to buy things at Costco, and then try to return them when your vacation is over, be aware that Hawaii Costco's usually won't take back these kinds of items, for exactly this reason.

I was just going to post that we leave chairs in the owner's closet at our resort. Many times we don't need to buy any since there are already chairs there.

Haven't many of the Owner's Closets been "closed" due to Covid? Hopefully they will reinstitute them post-pandemic.

We have ziptied our 4 chairs together and checked as a single piece of luggage for the past several trips. We each one free bag checked.....so...4 pack into 3 and voila...the tommy bahamas are the most well travelled furniture in our family.

That is a good idea.

Some of the condos we stayed in have a set of 4 chairs and others don't. In Lahania there is a family that rents this stuff in their front yard for pretty cheap.

Yet another reason to call and ask the resort directly.

Over the years, we’ve done all of the following:
  • Spent time before flight at a beach, just before leaving asked one of the local families if they wanted them. They took them.
  • Left them with the Salvation Army for them to sell.
  • We were in the parking lot headed back to the unit to get our luggage. Saw a lady holding what looked like check in papers. Asked her if she was checking in and would like the chairs. She took them.
  • Left them in the unit with a note to the cleaning crew that they could have them, possibly sell them at a church or some other organization tag sale, etc.
  • Left them by the recycle bins for anyone to take.

With all the stories of pool chair craziness especially in Maui - does each resort have their own rules if you can shlep your own chairs poolside?

We leave them for fellow tuggers and often get some given to us as well. We typically put them in the grass off the pool deck as they socially distance pool chairs

We checked a single cheap lawn chair on an island to island hop a decade or so ago when checked bags were free.

Miss those days!

At the Westin nanea we put our chairs in the shade on the lawn where they had set up 20 loungers in the blazing sun. Security came over and told us that is not allowed as it would exceed the number of allowable chairs and we couldn’t move the loungers either so no shade.
