We bought 154,000 points from Wyndham in 2003 at one of their Williamsburg resorts. Now 154,000 points doesn't get you to many places we want to visit, especially a 2 bedroom. Our last 2 trips to Pompano Beach and Myrtle Beach Sea Watch Plantation we were disappointed in the quality of the resort. Just discovered this great web site, my question is if we buy add'l points through resale could there be any problems with using them within the system? It's too much money buying through Wyndham especially when resales are available. Would enjoy hearing others experiences with this situation.

Not an issue. Pick up 100,000 + points at resale (usually .02 or less) and enjoy. Retail FSP is a bad deal - resale a great buy.

Please be sure what you're buying when buying from Wyndham.

There are basically 2 very different kinds of weeks available at Wyndham managed resorts.

-Resorts managed by Wyndham, and the unit is already in FSP.( the Wyndham point system).

-Resorts managed by Wyndham, but the unit is not in FSP. These weeks can be converted to FSP but the cost is seldom worth it.

If you're looking at a resort in Hawaii and Hawaii is the only place you want to go, then it doesn't matter if the week is in FSP or not. But when you want to add more FSP points to your current ownership. Buy a week which is already in FSP!!

Have you tried using RCI for smaller amounts of points deposited that might get you to places you want to visit, including 2 bedrooms?

I would also suggest that you consider doing points rental rather than buying. Even if you buy resale, you may do better without the MF commitment if you do rentals. At between $5.00 and $6.50/1000 for renting, it's pretty tough to buy and have MF's low enough to make rentals a significant over expense. (Add SA's and you'll definitely be over the rental price.)

Have you maximized what you have yet?

With 154,000 points you can get 2 weeks in a 2bedroom is you plan a year in advance by doing an ongoing search or within 90 days. This is how you do it. Bank 2 weeks @ 70K points a piece with RCI. If you are going to FL or any other overpopulated TS spot or off season, bank a 28K point week and do an ongoing search.

Now, if you want to book your vacation within the Wyndam internal resorts. than.

- Rent points first before you purchase @ $5 per 1000points (you can get this rate if you rent points for a reservation within 90 days... and if you cancel the reservation ... guess what your points are good for the entire year)
- Utilize RCI's Extra Vacations or Last Calls if you are flexible in your travel
- Purchase a resale contract that is UDI (originally points and not a converted week) this is optional

If that is the cases, why buy more points in Wyndham? You need first find the resort(s) chain that has consistence quality under your standard. Than see what kind of resale TS product you want to buy to allow you get to that chain.
