we are getting excited about our trip to the bahamas on December 12 and then spending chrsitmas in Orlando at Disney world.
My questions is in other resorts I have been at, the resort has had a business centre which had computers to check email and internet services. is this the case at harborside and at the Vistana Villages
Should I bring my computer if they have wireless or is it easier to just pay a fee and use their computers

Thanks in advance

Atlantis has free computers you can use--15 minutes a day--and they are strict about the time. They are located in the library in the Coral Towers.
If you bring your laptop to use at Harborside, it is I believe $19 per day--used to be $15--phase 2 of Harborside has wired--we own phase 1 and have always been able to pick up wireless because we overlook the marina and the antenna for there is just above our building--haven't been in a year and I think some updates in phase 1 might have occurred. Wireless at the daily rate is available in lobbies, pool areas (basically useless due to the sun)
A recent visitor might have more recent info on current availability/prices.
I plan to bring my I phone and turn it on airplane mode so I don't have to pay for the constant downloads--and phone messages--I tell folks not to leave messages when I am gone but they do and if the phone is on you get charged!
If anyone knows of free/less expensive hot spots I would love to hear about them! Does the Starbucks at Marina village have it???

Internet at HRA is provided by Atlantis internet. There is a sliding scale for the service. One day is something like $15-20 (don't remember). I purchased 7 days and the cost was $80.40 total earlier this month. The downside is that internet at HRA is wired only - no wireless. The only port is near the couch in the living room. You may want to take a longer ethernet cable with you. If you take your wireless laptop over to Atlantis, though, there is wireless in some locations, and you use your same login ID to obtain service since it is purchased through Atlantis.

I like the fact that there is free internet service if I understand correctly. All I want to do is check email each day and I really do not want to fork out $80 bucks to do that unless I really have to. Have they changed the "free usage" in the library and is it full internet access?
Much appreciated

I haven't been since last January but the hotel has always had it--at least since I have been going in 2001. Maybe another poster could confirm or you can check the hotel web site and inquire about the library useage.

The only "free" internet is at the Library over at Alantis. The only wireless at Harborside is the Pool deck area and the lobby. Of if someone brings an unsecured router, you could piggy back on to thier connection.

If you want to only check on emails, go to the Libray at Atlantis.

We visited Harborside in October and internet access was still available in the Library for free. Though Atlantis did not seem crowded during our visit (based on the numerous available chairs by every pool), we always had to wait in the Library because they did not have many computers. Most days, the wait was under ten minutes, but one day we gave up after 20 minutes.

Here are the rates as of Oct 2008. First price is cost for N number of days (from 1 - 7), second column is the incremental difference. Have no idea why the 6th day is $9, but the 7th is $12 (especially since with checkin techincally at 4pm, checkout by 10am, that 7th day is only 18hrs).

$14.95 $14.95
$29.90 $14.95
$38.90 $9.00
$49.90 $11.00
$59.90 $10.00
$68.90 $9.00
$80.90 $12.00

I stayed in Phase I & II, both have wired internet access. A longer cable is definitely needed, I was lucky I had one - the one they provide would have only allowed you to work on the couch (mine allowed me to work on the dining room table).
