I received a text from our cabin neighbor informing us that our cabin had been robbed a long with the others. The text was addressed to all of the cabin owners and other owners reported back they had been robbed too. I was told it looks like our cabin had the shed door lock hasp prayed off and that things were tossed about in our shed. Others posted pictures of their cabin doors or windows being destroyed and their place ransacked.
Our cabin has steel security doors with double sided keyed locks so if there is a break in the thief couldn't use the door to get out. We had let some younger family members use the cabin a few days before the break in. Since there was no signs of damage getting into the cabin, I think the last cabin users accidentally left the side door unlocked. The item stolen are of no consequence to us because it was my old 1990's stereo hooked up to some blown speakers, the flatware which is really old, a couple of old DVD players and some glasses including all of the wine glasses people leave up there.
The trail cams I have watching the cabin had a problem using Amazon basic batteries so they have not been working since last August. I usually use Energizer but had the others that needed to be used before they rotted. Never again. The Amazon basics not only had a shorter life span but they spewed junk into the battery terminals to the point of one camera won't power up.
Really, the only thing I might miss are the coffee cups that are lettered with "Let's Ride". I had eight of them and now have two left. They are bright chrome looking stainless steel cups which were unique and fun to use before a ride.
