I will fly home from Singapore and my friend ask me to get 2 small bag of wheat flour ( called as Bake King Hong Kong Flour - extra special / Prima super lite flour ) and Ammonium bicarbonate powder ( using in baking) for her . These items are sold in grocery store in Singapore.

I take a look at custom and border to see if these item are allowed to enter US in a checked luggage . However, I can not find the information in website https://www.cbp.gov/travel/international-visitors/agricultural-items

I see noodle, ramen are listed but nothing mentioned of a raw wheat flour or Ammonium Bicarbonate powder .Have anyone here has brought wheat flour / dried spicy into US from Southeast Asia and successfully bring them in your check luggage without any problem

Please advise and thank you

I would be sure that the items are in commercial packages that are clearly marked with contents and ingredients, ideally in English. White flour is allowed and it looks like the bicarbonate is allowed too.

We have Global Entry and we mark the customs slip when we are bringing in food, including candy and tea, and when the clerk asks what we have, we tell them, and they invariably let us go through. I think I would check the items but have them easy to access when going through so you can pull them out for inspection if they ask.

Who's your Congressional rep? Ask them specifically about customs, TSA procedures regarding your food purchases out of country.

BTW, I know some spices are a problem. Szechuan peppercorns were banned for many years.

Thanks for your inputs. I will make sure there is English written to describe them on the bag . I will declare them and place them in my checked luggage

No issue. I do that regularly from Singappre to the US - commercial packet spices etc. No meat products unless sealed in a commercial can.
