Does anyone have experience with skiing in Breckenridge so far this season? We are scheduled to be at Grand Timber Lodge in a couple of weeks and am wondering how things are going. I have seen some pictures of really long lift lines because of limitations on number of people on lifts. I am also wondering if we really will only be able to use the hot tub one half hour our entire week. We had a week at Lodge at Peak 7 but already canceled that one. I am too old not to ski a season so really really want to go.

We recently cancelled our scheduled January 31 week at Grand Lodge at Peak 7. With restaurants being for the most part closed, and limits on ski, pool, and hot tub time, we decided to wait a while. (Plus we would have to fly, and we are both over 65,,,trying very hard to avoid getting COVID! ). We have rescheduled for December. We hated to cancel, but it just seems like the experience wouldn’t be that great for us....

What a shame. The restaurants in the Denver suburbs are open. Some mayors are keeping things closed. I think Denver is still pretty shutdown and no big deal because that beautiful city is being targeted by people with an agenda and lots of grafitti and now tents are in the city's parks. This has been going on since summer.

Also, Summit County has required all resorts and rental homes to have only one family from the same household. That leaves out the groups of skiers that get larger homes and condos to share that housing expense.

Steamboat restaurants now allow 25% occupancy, including on mountain. Of course that can change up or down at anytime. Checking their webcams don’t show overloaded lines compared to what I’ve endured on a powder day.

Cheers

This has changed since Monday, Jan 5th. Restaurants are now open at 25% and people from two households may occupy a rental.

Currently at GTL for MLK Jr weekend. The resort is fine. Text the concierge to reserve amenities and they're quick to respond. The slopes are ok...groomed with icy patches.

Skied at Breck in late Dec and currently at Vail. The lift lines can sometimes get long but its fine. None of the restrictions has materially changed the ski experience. This season, I am not eating in the mountain restaurants so its actually saving me money. Everyone needs to wear a mask in the lift lines and in any indoor settings.

The main issue is that a lot of the snow has been going north of Colorado and both Breck and Vail have only received about 70% of normal snowfall. Breck only has about half the mountain open currently until there is more snow. There is a pattern change that is happening so hopefully, more snow will be coming this week and next.

All that said, I am very glad to be skiing this winter and will continue to ski no matter how little or how much snow falls.

I'm in Breckenridge right now, and although lodging may be down, trying to to eat a meal at a restaurant is extremely frustrating. Most of the more casual places are not taking reservations, just show up at get on the list. Some are doing call-ahead, but many are not.

On Saturday night, we tried to eat at Breckenridge Brewery. We did call-ahead at 5pm to get on the list, and they estimated a 1.5 hour wait. At 6:45, we hadn't gotten a text yet so we went in person to check -- was told it would be another 30 minutes and we were "8th on the list". At 7:30, still no text so we checked in person again. Guess what? We were told we were "8th on the list"! She had no explanation as to how, in 45 minutes, we didn't move up on the list at all. We bailed, went to the grocery store, picked up a rotisserie chicken and some sides and at back at the condo. At 8:30, we got a text our table was ready. Grrr.

This town is not set up for these restrictions. I realize they are doing their best, but the number of people combined with the restrictions make for a very poor experience, IMO. And the skiing is mediocre at best, due to the lack of snow. But as they say, a bad day skiing beats a good day at work!
