Looking to trade for a 2BR Ko Olina or Maui Ocean Club in June 2011. We own a 2Br Horizons Branson to trade with. Is this trade possible and if so what would be the best way to go about making it happen??
It's always possible but unlikely to be feasible for several reasons including relative demand and lockoff feature of those resorts. I've been thinking about the same exact trade for 3 weeks for 2012. I own a Branson Platinum 2 BR lockoff and a Ko'Olina Platinum 2 BR lockoff. We plan to go for 3 weeks and will need a 2 BR, or at least 2 rooms, for at least 2 of the 3 weeks if not all 3. I also have stronger Marriott's I could trade but I'd rather not.
My dilemma, as I suspect is yours, is whether to lockoff my Horizon's week and try to get two smaller units or go for the 2 BR with the extra costs in mind (lockoff fee and extra exchange fee). I'm actually looking at using 2 years of Branson weeks so I may do one as a lockoff and one as a 2 BR and hedge my bets or just lock both off. Given we can travel any time of year and we're shooting for either May or Sept/Oct, our chances of success are likely better than most EITHER WAY. I'm leaning to locking off both and searching for 1 BR units since we can make it with a 1 BR as there will only be 4 of us. Then if I get the 1 BR at either resort, use my studio to search for a matching unit to make a 2 BR, extra cost about $200. I'll likely also search for Ko'Olina even though we own there because we own a Mountain View and might get an OV and if we do, we'll turn around and search for other parts of our trip using the Ko'Olina week in exchange. I have the luxury of having other 2 BR Marriott's I could trade such as Platinum at HH, but if I do, it'll only be for 2 BR units and likely request first so I can rent HH out otherwise. Finally I'll have several bonus weeks I can use once we're inside the 60 day window to pick up additional space or better options if they become available.
I hope my ramblings help.
