Try the student run restaurant at College of the Ozarks. My sister took us there for lunch a few years ago. The food was good, very reasonably priced, and the service (the students) was great.

I second both recommendations for the Keeter Center at the College of the Ozarks and Andy's Frozen Custard. Give yourself plenty of time to look around while you are at the College of the Ozarks. The Chapel, the museum and the lake overlook are all worth seeing. We ate twice at the Keeter Center, lunch and dinner, and the food was very good. They have wonderful deserts too.

Grandma Ruth's cinnamon rolls are amazing.

We also ate at the Chateau and would recommend it but be aware that it is more expensive. We did the Branson Belle dinner show and the food was surprisingly good but the show was only so-so compared to the other shows we saw, even the smaller shows.

There is one thing I wish I had known before our first trip to Branson. At the larger theaters there are several shows offered. When you see a show you can buy nicely discounted tickets for one of the other shows at that theater before you leave. You can call the theaters to ask about this.

If you like barbecue, there's a new restaurant inside the Starlite Theatre called Gettin Basted that I recommend.

I recommend three that the locals frequent: Billy Bobs (hamburgers and shakes), Danna's (barbecue, hamburgers, and catfish), and Billy Gail's (breakfast). The picking porch (barbecue and hamburgers) is getting good reviews. All these are reasonably priced and selected for their food and not the atmosphere).

I ate there twice in May and really liked it.

We like Greenbrier and Alamo. Alamo has discount coupons in the Gatlinburg coupon books.

There is also a town about 1/2 hour away where they have huge meals (fried chicken was very good) and home of a dinner roll thrower. I can't remember the name but I'm sure someone will post it.

That's Lamberts in Ozark. That is where my sister lives. In all of my visits to see her we've never gone there. I'm not really keen on someone throwing food at me. :)

Yes, Lambert's Cafe is just North of Branson--the home of "throwed rolls" and comfort food Ozark style. It is interesting if it fits your schedule and is usually very crowded. However, be aware that it is cash and no credit cards accepted.
Menu is at https://www.throwedrolls.com/ozarkmenu/#1/z

Usually when we've driven by Lambert's there are tour buses lined up outside.

Don't waste your time at Lambert's. Food is not good. We tried it once and won't return. A gimmick and a tour trap.
