Hi there! Spent the last few days reading a LOT of information.
Husband and I bought a deeded week EOY timeshare of a two bedroom lockoff unit at Tahiti in Vegas back in 2007. Fast forward a lot of mis-steps, we finally have a zero balance and pretty low maintenance fees.

I'm learning a lot more about our options, and without a monthly payment the trip planning and hassles seem a lot better now!

We've traded our use years into two weeks for use. We've used it to trade into Mariott Harbour Lakes in Orlando one year and are heading back to a second visit to David Walley's on Sunday for a week for Thanksgiving. (Love the hot springs!) We currently have our 2015 weeks deposited and ready with a 2017 expiration :)

Now that I'm becoming more educated, there are a lot of options and things to take into consideration. Our son in 13 now, and we homeschool so we have a lot of options and flexibility on travelling. We love cruising and went to Hawaii last year compliments of Carnival Cruiselines on a complimentary trip! <3 Definitely want to learn more about exchanging a week for a cruise as a possibility in future. We belong to Interval International and I am just KICKING myself for so many wasted years but looking forward to a lot of fun trips and excitement!

Welcome.

I'm new as well but lurked for awhile. I used various DVC forums to help me figure out how to buy Disney Vacation Club points. I found a great Beach Club Villa resale and then I bought Poly developer points because I wanted a fixed week F&W festival Fall contract. That kind of contract would not likely come up on the resale market so in that case, I bought developer points eyes wide open.

I came here to study Starwood vs. Wyndham resales. Eventually I focused on Wyndham and I've now bought a few resale contracts for very cheap. I'm still figuring out Wyndham, but I've got the basics I think and TUG helped me review my EBay sellers. This is a very valuable site for making the most from timeshares.

I'm learning more everytime I drop by.

So glad that you're finding good information here and getting nice trades. However, the general consensus is that it's not a good value to exchange for a cruise, and you can get better value for them elsewhere.

True that. I was going to use points to take a cruise only to find I was paying almost the same price if not more by combining my HICV with the Royal Carribean cruise line. I canceled that transaction and booked the cruise directly thru Royal Caribbean Cruises. I have been using RCI for many years. Have started using VRI and DAE and so far am happy with them. Also using TUG marketplace for buying and exchanging my timeshares. TUG has been a great resource for me. We tell it like it is, some of us disagree about resorts or travel, but for the most part, good ideas are exchanged and reviews are helpful to decide where to stay. Welcome to both of you to TUG.
