Don't forget the Haymarket(google it)!
Al's sandwich shop is pretty good for a quick bite - It's a hole in the wall place up State Street, turn left out the side door from Custom House, very close.

Farmer's Market is also nearby and is open Saturday morning - we like it for fresh fruits, veggies, and berries. You will have a small refrigerator in the unit.

Mike's versus Modern - I always see more Mike's boxes than those from Modern, but both are great. Forget your calorie intake and enjoy! I love the crowd at Mike's and a perfect wait time to see a happy bunch of people.

We had groceries delivered to the Custom House and that worked out really well. We got breakfast & lunch stuff, snacks, beverages, etc. and ate dinner out.

A while back, we were in line at Mike's and this couple was in front of us. The wife was making sure the husband knew exactly what to get, then she left. The husband told us they were locals, and she was headed to Modern as they like the cannoli's best at Mike's, but the Lobster Tails (https://acaseofthemunchies.wordpress.com/2017/05/15/lobster-tail-at-modern-pastry-a-foodie-landmark/) best at Modern. Why compromise when you can divide and conquer. ;-)

Sort of like the tastes great/less filling commercials....but in this case.... tastes great/more filling!!!
Lol thanks for the tips. Something to keep in mind!

We had a great late lunch at Carmelina’s across the street from mikes a couple of Saturdays ago (in case you want food before all the pastry!).
Its a very small Italian restaurant, you need to make reservations on their web site, show up on time and get out 1.5 hours later- no desert, no coffee— go to the bakery.
Everything was hot and delicious and we had just a short walk to the garden for the game- no worry about lunch taking too long.
