Borrowing Home Resort Options

I know you can borrow SOs if you pre-pay the Mx fee but was wondering if you borrow your home resort options can they be used the prior year to sched at 12mo?

For Example: If I have 148,100 2017 SOs - Can I borrow and use them to sched 12/1/16 before 4/1/16 (8 Mos) if I use them at the same home resort??

Whenever you use Staroptions, it's a floating view reservation - 8 mos. before check-in.

You can't make a home resort reservation for your deeded view with Staroptions.

There is really no way to do it, because mathematically, there are only so many home resort reservations available in a year.

If you allowed owners to use Staroptions to make home resort reservations, it would block other owners from making true home resort reservations which would not be legal or fair.

Not to argue but here is my rumination: If I borrowed 2017 HROs to use in 2016 at same resort - I would not be able to use them in 2017 thereby freeing up more in the subsequent year. One could hope it would all average out.

It has already gotten really difficult to make a regular Staroption reservation - allowing owners to use them for Home Resort Reservations would be a nightmare.

Look at it this way: Let's say you own two ocean front 2 bdms, and you reserve those, plus you borrow from the next year, and reserve 2 more for a total of four.

That means that 2 other owners are blocked from making a home resort reservation for the same week.

This is simply not workable, and I don't think it's legal, because it would mathematically exclude owners from being able to make a home resort reservation.

I believe that you're correct in that Home Resort Options cannot be borrowed (or banked) as Home Resort Options, only as StarOptions. However, I'm curious as to how Disney is able to do that. In DVC, you're allowed to bank and borrow points from other use years to make home resort reservations.
