What are the rules on borrowing your own future year points? Can points that have already been transferred to a future year be borrowed back if need be?

I'm not sure anyone here has tested it, but I believe as written only actual future year points are supposed to be borrowed back (which can be done within 90 days of check-in). That is, if I have 200,000 points next year and also deposited 100,000 points from this year to next year, I'm pretty sure only 200,000 can be borrowed (leaving 100,000 to be used next year). But I'm not sure if that's actually how the system works in practice.

The way I read it is that you can only borrow legitimate future year points not deposited, it has to be within 3 months of check in and if you cancel they go back to future year. Deposited points are used only for standard and express reservations of the year they were deposited in. Consider depositing a final transaction and no longer accessible to current year reservations.

I did that with all of my 2021 points I had left. I'm just going to express book for the remainder of 2021. I'd rather pay the $39 fee an know they're safe since this year is still pretty crazy. I put them into 2023 and am express booking with my 2022. I wanted to make sure I had enough time to actually use them okay.

I've booked our three major vacations for this year and am in the midst of renting the rest of our 2020 points that were rolled into 2021 - along with all of the current use year 2021 points. If we choose to book anything else - we'll use the express window and borrow from 2022. These would mostly be weekend getaways that we typically book within the 60 day discount window anyways - so the express approach works well for us this year.

I do the same thing. For places further than 3 hours away I book at exactly 10 months, everything else is just filler. With the exception of Clearwater. Gotta be online at midnight to get a room there.

Rules can change when Wyndham decides it necessary. The best pan is no plan. IMHO renting from a VIP when needed is the best plan and way to enjoy the club. Renting comes without a the sunk cost of buying or the burden of paying continuous rising maintenance fees!!
