I have 2018 saved points that have to be used by today or deposit into RCI.

Instead I just made a reservation in RCI. Will it use the oldest points first AUTOMATICALLY, or do I have to place a call to get HGVC to force the system to use this points first?

I figured I might as well just book a reservation that I have a high probability of using, as just depositing into RCI with NO specific usage it is $108 and booking the reservation is only $139.

I just want to know if I need to call or if it will take the oldest points.

I would call.

I did the same thing but on Dec 28th and today they used my saved 2019 points correctly.

Being you are doing it today, there is a high probability that your saved 2019 points would be zeroed prior to them going against you account for the points.

I would call them right after you do the transaction so if it is done incorrectly your call is posted on your account plus maybe they can take care of it when you call.

Take images of your point value on hgvc and your online confirmation. This way you will have proof you had the points and the trade confirmation is prior to the expiration.

I've been on hold for nearly an hour already. Was hoping that I could avoid the phone part. But alas looks like NO.

Elite line or RCI Bookings line. What is your best guess to use?

Well that was a long wait. 2 hours hold, but it is done. Good thing I was doing something else at the time.

I snagged a 1 BR at The District bHC for an 4 night October 2020 stay:
It would not be available to me NOW, as I am not a bHC owner. Plus
It was only 1700 HGVC instead of the 3180 it would have cost me in HGVC points directly. Plus
It costs $139 instead of the regular HGVC $57 Elite reservation fee. Negative
I have to pay an RCI Points $75 cleaning fee for less than a 1 week stay. Negative

I think I came out about even or slightly ahead in the end given the positive difference in the point values, less the negative of extra fees. 1480 less points, but $157 in higher fees.

I booked a trip through RCI online yesterday with the anticipation that it would pull the remainder of my 2019 points but as of now, they are still showing as available in my HGV account. I'm grabbing some screenshots and hope to get through to confirm that they will use the 2019 points first. I'll report back with the results as well

A few years ago, a poster (hurnik?) said he was told their 12/31 expiration meant no.
But I think the rules "clarified" that becuz last-year (2018) points could been used for
for RCI for 2 years from the get-go... the answer is now yes, for one following year.

I wouldn't worry 'bout it this week. A few years ago, I was sweating that same thing.
I called and was told that points for RCI bookings are posted "by hand" (manually), and many of the peep who do that were gone for the holidays, so it would take longer, but when they got to it, they will look-back to the date of the booking.
... so they said, and so it was.

@Talent312 you probably are correct. I did end up waiting on hold and the rep said that she could manually process it to make sure it used this year's points. Which she did.

I asked her if it would have happened on its own and she said "probably" or worst case I might have needed to call back if it didn't pull the right points.

Yes, that was me, LOL
I did have to call back after the fact and it took a while but finally convinced them to straighten it out.

Fortunately I'm in the "borrow" state now, but you never know when I might pick up another timeshare, LOL!
