If you book a second room for family, do you keep that reservation under your name, add them as a guest to the reservation or put the reservation in their name? If you put it in their name and the reservation needs to be cancelled for whatever reason, can they cancel? Can I cancel?

If you are going to be there when they check in you can just keep it all in your name.
If not you need to fill out the guest form.
You will see the cancellation policy when you book.

Only the owner can cancel the reservation.

One good reason to add someone else's name to the reservation is if they have Bonvoy-Status.
They will receive credit for the Room-Nights to build lifetime status.
