Bonus Week Interval International Deposit

Hello Everyone,

I recently purchased an Even Year resale timeshare awaiting for it to pass RofR. I expected first usage to be 2026 but it seems the seller still has a week to reserve this year. Which would just be a bonus for me.

I would like to try to deposit this into Interval International(II). By the time everything is transferred there would probably be no availability left for the year.

Is it possible for the seller to reserve the furthest week under my name and then when ownership is transferred(hopefully 14 days before checkin) I could deposit it into my II to push my travel dates into 2025? Or is there an alternative to idea to somehow leverage this week for next year?

Thanks!

What timeshare system are you buying into? Resort?

In most systems transferring an already existing reservation to the new owner is fine. You can then deposit it as you wish. That said, it could also end up as a late deposit which would have restrictions when trading.

For systems like Marriott, they will often offer a supplemental deposit in the event there is nothing available left to reserve. They deposit weeks throughout the year and then just transfer one of the deposits to your newly setup II account.

Thanks for the quick reply! It’s a Marriott MGC. I started searching the forums for supplement weeks. Looks like if I call customer service and advised them there is no availability they maybe able to deposit a week into II.

Yes. The first step is to call and ask if you can make a reservation. Late in the use year the answer will probably be that there is nothing available. Then ask for a supplemental deposit. There is no guarantee. They will search for something and if they find it they will deposit it to your II account. Make sure you have your II account already setup. You can potentially also lock off, pay the lock off fee, and deposit supplemental deposits for each side of the lock off.

The question is, does your contract specify 2026 first use year? I am not sure if MVC will care, but that could impact your ability to get usage from the 2024 week.

Contract was starting 2026 , 2024 based on availability after transfer. Yes I could lock off as it’s a 2 BR but didn’t want to push my luck with requesting from Marriott a supplement week and locking it off.

Btw love your YouTube channel, if you saw an uptick of views these past couple of months, that was me going down the rabbit hole of timeshares!
