Never saw it. Did you see it come back at all? What were you doing canceling it?

Yesterday I was talking to a VC and asked to give me room numbers on two 4 bedroom presidential there. She gave me the room numbers and I went to add the guest name online (easier even if I still have guest confirmations) and it would not go through. Logged out and logged back in and I only had 1 of the 2 still under the owner name. She looked into it but then transferred me to owner care. Eventually told me it was cancelled over the phone. A case has been opened. It was suggested that I keep searching online. I let them know the probability of that unit or any come back is very slim as I have about 7 reservations that are all 7 nights or part of the week pulled from that check in date. At the 15 day window I cancelled a 2 to get under the 10 nightly unit limit. We will see what happens.

am1 ... did those points show back up in your account?

I am beginning to believe Wyndham thinks it is impossible for us to prove lost points and/or cancelled reservations with the large accounts and the associated activity.

I talked for a good 30+ minutes to the supervisor who runs the "inside 15 day CANCEL crew" ... NOT impressed with her attitude ... she was full of GLEE in how many reservations she and HER group were seizing and cancelling from the owners who had overlapping even by 1 day ... or the value of MFs being flushed away from those owners. I think she told me (the SINGLE WOMAN) I should be putting a guest on reservations ... when I am forced to overlap due to booking issues.... "you should put it in another owner's name or pay for a GUEST Certificate"... you are a VIP (etc). I just kept thinking "Hope you like the Koolaid ... it will get you one day."

That group is given a list to manually check and DELETE the points and reservations ... I wonder who is putting together the list. I am sure it is totally a manual list ... targeting ONLY certain accounts.

Are you saying that in the failed attempt to add a guest, you lost the reservation itself?

It did not come back. Never saw it. Why was I canceling? I was greedy!! I had a 1BR Deluxe unit that I had rebooked at half price and was trying to upgrade that to a 4BR Pres. Do that a few times and it makes the bottom line for the year a lot better!

Your experience with the VC is really scary!

I've lost too many myself. I find now that the VCs computer access is quite a bit faster than mine. So, I tend to ask them to do the cancel, rebook, and upgrade. It tends to be far more successful.

The points were forfeited as it was inside 15 days.

After I asked the VC for the room numbers one was cancelled by the agent. Just by luck I was going to add the guest name once I found out the room number and noticed it was cancelled. If it was noticed later it would be very hard to find when it was cancelled.

Then I would have been told that I must have to asked to cancel it and forfeit the points as that is only when VC's cancel reservations. To that I would have said how many times have I ever asked to cancel a reservation inside 15 days to check in (0) so why would I ask now. I will wait for it to be investigated but 0 confidence Wyndham will get it back. Even if they do it is less valuable to be now if I am not sure.

Do you think the *VCs can see the return of a cancelled reservation before we can? If not, I'm not sure how they would do any better than us.

* I'm from a time when VC meant something vastly different. You too, I'm guessing!

Today I was able to pick up March 12 - 19 in a 4 bedroom presidential. I needed it to complete a two week stay.
