That's cool.
But I've got a better deal -- park close by and walk in for nothing.
You don't get the hop-on, hop-off bus ride or inside tours, but you still see the sights.

We are glad that enough do pay to keep the "draw" going. The fact that CW is there helps to maintain a fine tourist base in Tidewater.

We have parked/stroled several times over the course of 40 years, usually in off season.

Never have cared to know what is behide walls that cost many dollars to get inside. Never see people coming out raving or even smiling like they were so happy to see what's in there.

We always get annual passes and then almost always go back a few days before the year is up.

The pass is well worth it, because we go to a lot of the pass-only presentations, inside the buildings that are pass-only, etc.

I missed today's deal :-( but FYI, they give nice discounts to educators, museum personnel, AAA, and probably other categories as well. I believe the museum one is a free day pass - DS gets that with the ID from his internship at a museum.

Give it a shot!

Yeah - I used to think that way too until one year we purchased passes and signed up for some of the activities (i.e. witches trial, gallows tour, a one man stage show). I have to say that I'd been missing the whole experience until that year. The cast of actors is outstanding and we enjoyed it so much that we actually wrote an email to the staff (and got a nice reply). I know it's a bit pricey but I highly recommend that you sign up to some of the shows at least one time. They are very well done, very engrossing, and sometimes scary! If you have young teenagers, it's a must.

IMHO.

Where is the Like button?

It's a must for children of every age. We've done Stables Tours, "Other Half" (slaves and servants), trials, the Capital and the Governor's Palace - all very well worth the price.

But darn it, I didn't have a chance to check TUG till almost midnight, so missed the deal AGAIN!
