I am for once thinking aobut buying something outside of South Africa Weeks. I have three questions about this program specifically

1) Does anyone have a pdf or web link for how many points are required for all the resorts and weeks that you can exchange your points for.

2) Can you get pretty much any week at any of the reosrts if you give enough time to trade into.

3) If I intend on going to Big Cedar every 2-3 years, should I buy there, or just take the best deal (ebay has some at $1000 for 7000 points every other year).

Thanks

2) Yes if you do it on the 11 months out at 8 am. The exception maybe some popular non BG developed resorts, where BG has limited inventory at popular time, like Big Sky summer, Christmas week Aruba. Preferred member will have priority.

3) Big Cedar is not hard to get, unless you have to have summer cabin. I'll buy the cheapest point.

The other thing to consider is Bonus Time, so your usage isn't limited to points you have.

Of course, Bonus Time is not available until 45 days out (I think it's 45?) so you can't book well in advance.

If you own at Big Cedar, you will have the ability to book your specific unit from 13-12 months in advance of checkin.

If you want to guarantee that you will get it, you need to own there.

The people who are second in line are Gold preferred members. Those members have 35000 points or more. Silvers are 3rd in line. They have over 20000 points.

In essence, if you are a gold or silver preferred member, you get on the wait list before other non-preferred members can. So, you will be processed first at the 11 month mark. Golds can get on the wait list at 13-months before check in. Silvers can get on the list 12 months ahead of check in.

What I would do is become a gold preferred member and buy the cheapest points possible. There are many ways to do this. That's the fun part of timesharing.
