I've blocked callers in this manner for years, however, they just use a different number. I get four to six a day using the area code of my number. I know it's them because I have not lived in that area code for 15 years and know the numbers, and they are in my contacts so identified, of those who call me from that area. Verizon is supposed to be providing protection for me and I have Robokiller and it blocks a good bit but not those I get daily from that area code and have to block. Will they ever run out of numbers?????

No, quite simply because the scammers are not calling from those numbers -- they just spoof the phone system (which has no security to prevent the spoofing) to show a different number on the caller ID.

I know this may not help everyone, but the system i use is a magic Jack voip/ip phone combined with an answering machine for my home phone. This is the number i use for most all business/online/credit ect. I listen to the machine first then most, 98% dont leave a message and hang up. Robo-call problem solved.

I can't even pretend to understand how they do that but they certainly seem to be able to generate numbers faster than I can block them.

Since we had my cellphone ported as our home number I just keep it on do not disturb unless I‘m expecting a certain call. The only calls that get through are those from people in our contacts. If it’s important they can leave a voicemail if not in our contacts. No message = Not Important! = No spam calls.
