This often means that the Goddess Pele is about to spout off.

A magnitude 3.6 earthquake struck on Hawaii island this morning.

The earthquake struck at about 10:22 a.m.about 8.1 miles south of Volcano and 30 miles south-southwest of Hilo at a depth of about 5.3 miles.

The USGS "Did You Feel It?" website recorded responses from Captain Cook to Hilo.

Another earthquake of magnitude 2.5 was recorded about 8 minutes later at 10:30 a.m. It was centered about 2 miles east-northeast of Pahala and 42 miles south-southwest of Hilo.
