Hi Don

I tried them last trip to Kauai and the upcoming trip to Kona, both times they were 15 to 20% higher than using Priceline . For the 2 of us we just get any econobox, both times Hertz took our bid of $15 per day, making the 14 days

Your Offer Price: $15.00 (per day)
Total Rental Days: 14 days(13 days and 23 1/2 hours)
Subtotal: $210.00
Taxes and Fees: $103.59
Total Charges: $313.59:cheer:

I have seen some folks get better deals, but I am pretty happy with ours.:whoopie:

fwiw,

Greg

Does anyone have any experience renting from:

http://www.hawaiidiscountcarrental.com/ or

http://www.carrentals.com/

They seem to be brokers for Thrifty, Budget, Avis, Alamo etc

Thanks

Greg:

I need a full size and both of these sites are quoting less than $250 - that incl the taxes = $35 per day for a full size. You think priceline is better? Should I offer $30?

I'm not Greg, but I do use Priceline.

Priceline is great as long as you understand that there are no cancellations, changes, or refunds. If your bid is accepted, your credit card will be charged immediately and you immediately get the confirmation - usually within a minute. So you want to be sure that your dates, location, and the size vehicle you choose are exactly correct, before your place your bid.

If your bid is not accepted, you can simply bid a little higher the next time, so I wouldn't start at $30. I'd maybe start at $14 and work my way up, $2 at a time. You can rebid every 24 hours.

If you've never bid at Priceline before, be sure you read all the rules regarding car bids, before you bid.

Here is Priceline's Intro. for rental cars.

Here's their rental car FAQ.

You cannot accidentally bid, because you must put in a credit card number to submit the bid, so a good way to get familiar with Priceline is to go through all the steps of bidding UP TO putting in the cc number, just for practice.

The upgrade to a full size was $9 per day

on Priceline,( iirc) I would offer $20 for a full size and see what happens, Then with the taxes you should be about $27.50 per day.

imho,

Greg

Tried Priceline and will keep trying. Looking for two weeks in August and maybe will do better close to vacation dates. got the Big island for $15 easy for a week plus taxes and fluff.
