Have 769 points left to use this year. There must be better uses than resort credits and insurance.

Assuming they aren't in holding, you could deposit in II or buy airline points. 1000 points is the smallest II deposit - a lowest TDI studio. Or you could make a hotel reservation from the Explorer collection. Or find a reservation (most likely in Orlando or Las Vegas) to rent out. Whether any of these look better than resort credits or insurance is in the eye of the beholder.

You can’t deposit abound points into II ever.
You can use them directly on II for a points exchange into non abound properties traveling before they expire.
You can also have MVC convert them to a week and deposit that into II for a weeks exchange into non abound property- minimum is 1000 points, you can combine points from different years.

From the Owner's perspective, you are depositing the points into II. But as you and I both wrote, your 1000 points yields a lowest TDI studio deposit.

Thanks to you all.

I think the best and easiest prospect for me is to pick up a couple of days stay at Williamsburg for the kids while at the local amusement park. Quick and easy, usually available, and a reasonable drive.

We're there (Manor Club) right now and the kids will love Busch Gardens. The resort itself has pretty much shut down most of the outdoor activities for the season, but the pool by the check-in is still open for now.

You can also check out Club Destination Escapes - there are a number of resorts mainly in Orlando - and a few others with 3-, 4-, and 7- day options with low point costs. You have to be flexible with the travel dates but it is one way to stretch those expiring points. Good luck.

Pulse San Diego. Wonderful weather this one of the year, not to mention low crowds and shoulder season points to stay!

Wish they offered the destination escapes without having to commit to a sales presentation

Thank you. I thought a presentation was required. I may have mixed it up with the Encore packages

At risk of educating more people to my own (our collective) detriment, Destination Escapes are amazing values for short notice off-peak stays. Here is the points requirement chart:

Marriott Vacation Club Destinations Escapes Club Points Chart

1 Bedroom360480840

There are currently a lot of dates in Florida, and Western deserts and mountains.

Thanks for your help -- Problem solved for our excess expiring and/or hold points - We live in NC and it was difficult finding reservations we could use so I offered to make reservations for Utah family members at Park City resorts. I obtained a few 3 or 4 day 30% discounted fall stays at Park City resorts. Young niece and nephew couples are so excited to get together. Yesterday was a good day and our remainder hold or expiring points are gone for this year.

The options I passed on as the absolute worst uses of excess points were "800 points for 1 year of insurance (normal 1 yr premium $199)," and "Resort credits."

1-11 are offices (Pulse shares the building with other businesses).
I think there are at least 26 floors (Pulse occupies flrs 12-20 something)
