We are in Concord, MA and will be flying out of Logan next week. The Courtyard Boston Logan Airport is a Cat 5, but it is also pretty reasonable with a AAA discount (or is there another discount code that's better?) so thought there might be another more interesting Cat 5 in the area for the Visa Certificate. It is not expiring for quite awhile, so don't have to use it now.

Any advice from you Boston Marriott experts?

Thanks!

The Courtyard near Logan airport is only a place to stay if you need to be near Logan for a flight. It is in a very uninspiring location on a busy road near rental car and satellite (park & fly) parking lots.

There are a couple of Residence Inns that might be good choices, that are category fives (one in Kendall square in Cambridge and one in Charlestown). The Residence Inn in Kendall Square is very near a Red Line T (subway) stop. This is a very short subway ride from downtown Boston. The Charlestown Residence Inn would put you near Old Ironsides in a waterfront location. This is a little removed from other Boston Sites, but still okay.

Agreed, none in a very nice area where you can also get to the airport quickly. Also be very early for the car shuttle, they can be frustratingly slow.

Thanks for the heip! Think we'll save it for another place. There is a cat 5 Spring Hill Suites in Napa that's close to us if we need a little getaway, and it is really pretty nice for a Spring Hill Suites.

Maybe I should start a "Best Catagory 5 Marriott" thread, for anywhere in the country. It is sometimes hard to tell from the photos.

I think it's a great idea for you to hold onto it for someplace else, Ann. Since the latest round of category increased there really aren't any good Boston hotels left at Cat 5 or lower. This year ours expired because the local pickings were so slim.

Tudor Wharf Residence Inn and Marriott Burlington, both good choices in Boston...

While we havent stayed in either, we considered one (Burlington, cat 4 with a great restaurant we wanted to try) and saw sights near the other (Tudor wharf, cat 5, near USS Constitution, Freedom Trail). We stayed at Marriott Long Wharf (cat 7) and loved it location wise and otherwise...We generally use our free night at the Marriott Mystic, but may consider switching to nearby cat 4 Residence Inn or holding onto it for other use elsewhere (not nearby) as you mentioned.

Let us know if you find a good one near Napa (we will be there in summer 2012) or if you start a thread on great cat 5's...
