We are headed to Carroll Valley next week for golf Monday-Wednesday. On Wednesday afternoon we will head over to Gettysburg for 2 days.

Any suggestions as to which tour(s) to take or best places to eat will be greatly appreciated . . .

The ghost tours in Gettysburg are entertaining. If you want, you can purchase a CD at the Visitor's Center and do your own auto tour of the Gettysburg Battlefield. McClellan's Tavern on the square we would highly recommend. Also you can usually obtain certificates for Mcclellan's Tavern on restaurant.com

The Blue Parrot Bistro off the square has great food.

Double Ditto that one!

We bought the CD / Tape once and have enjoyed it. If you want to be treated to a great tour, I'd hire the personal tour guide. They can give you a slice of history like no other. It will be very interactive though, so be prepared to ask a lot of questions.

Enjoy.

Thurmont Maryland - Gettysburg Pennsylvania

Sept 8, 2008

We drove to Gettysburg on Monday
via I-70, cross country roads and up Route 15 to 30
It was a beautiful day for a drive (Sunny and Warm)

We had Dinner at The Cozy Restaurant in Thurmont Md
Turkey and Veg Soup - Salad Bar, Homemade Breads,
Bar-B-Q Ribs, Fried Chicken, Fried Shrimp, and Desert

The Cozy, est. in 1929, is the oldest established restaurant
in the state of Maryland still operated by the founding family.

We stopped by Boyd`s Bear Country

We seen the new Visitor Center - lots of free parking
Just minutes from Historic Gettysburg PA by car & bus

The New Museum and Visitor Center at Gettysburg National Military Park
1195 Baltimore Pike should be your first stop when you arrive in town.
